How to make your WordPress site faster

  • Use fewer plugins. Delete the ones you do not need.
  • Compress images before uploading, and keep them no wider than they are displayed.
  • Use a caching plugin to serve pages quickly.
  • Use a recent PHP version (see How to change your PHP version).
  • Keep WordPress, themes and plugins updated.
  • Avoid big auto-playing videos and heavy sliders on the home page.

Test your pages with a free tool such as Google PageSpeed Insights to see what slows them down.
