My website is down or slow: what to check first

  1. Check your invoices. An overdue invoice can lead to suspension. Pay it and the site returns automatically (see Why was my service suspended).
  2. Check your domain. Make sure it has not expired and still points to your hosting (see How to point your domain to your hosting).
  3. Try another device or network. Open the site on mobile data to rule out a problem with your own connection or a saved old copy of the page.
  4. Check recent changes. If it broke right after you installed a plugin or theme, deactivate it in WordPress or rename its folder in cPanel File Manager.
  5. Check your disk space. In cPanel, the home page shows your usage. A full account can cause errors.

If the site is still down, open a Technical Support ticket with your domain name, the exact error message and when it started.
