How to log in to WordPress and update it safely

Log in at yourdomain.co.za/wp-admin using the username and password you chose during setup. If you forgot the password, click Lost your password? on that page.

Updating safely

  1. Take a backup first, using a backup plugin or the cPanel Backup tool.
  2. Update plugins one at a time, then themes, then WordPress itself.
  3. Check your site after each update. If something breaks, deactivate the last plugin you updated.

Keep only the plugins you actually use and delete the rest. Fewer plugins means fewer security risks and faster loading.
